Senior Data Engineer

As our Senior Data Engineer, you will drive that mission forward by building data pipelines, supporting data analytic processes, and managing and owning our data analytics platforms, with the mindset of aiding our business and engineering teams in their use of data to make smarter, more informed decisions. You will help us manage our data supply for analytical insights to support business decisions.
In doing so, this role enables our business and engineering teams to make informed, customer-focused decisions to measurably and empathetically innovate our products, features, and tools.

Tech Stack: JavaScript, React, Node, AWS, Mysql, DynamoDB, ECS, Kinesis, S3, Lambas, Cloudfront, etc.
The team is multinational.
Type of employment: full-time and office or remote.

Your experience and skills:

— Experience with dimensional data modeling and schema design in Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and related data-strategy techniques.
— Expertise within RedShift, Spectrum/S3, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and related cloud data analytics technologies. (e.g. BigQuery, Oracle, Hive, etc).
— Experience building and supporting data-orchestration platforms (e.g. AWS Glue, Airflow, Informatica, Pentaho, Talend, Stitch) in custom or structured design, ETL/ELT implementation, and maintenance
— High-proficiency with data-query, SQL, Python, node.js, Java, Kinesis, and related technologies. Experience leveraging these technologies to transform/translate data as needed.
— Familiarity with cloud-based data analytics tools, reporting, and dashboard platforms (e.g. Tableau, Periscope, Google Analytics, PowerBI, etc.)
— Experience working with either Map Reduce or similar MPP systems for terabyte/petabyte size/scale. Ability to construct reusable code components for repeatable process, quality control, and scale.
— Experience building data analytic and cloud-based data platforms and knowledge of related web and database platform technologies.

Will be a plus:

—M.S. degree in Computer Science or related field, or commensurate experience

What you will be doing with us:

— Developing and maintaining data pipelines and data analytic systems.
— Modeling data please analytics databases for reports, analysis, and dashboards.
— Integrating pipelines with current software infrastructure.
— Performing exploratory analysis on data to find issues or trends.
— Curating and annotating proprietary datasets.
— Building, evaluating, and supporting various data analytics and/or machine learning models.
— Build and provide ongoing support for data pipes to connect and collect data from internal systems and 3rd party API’s (e.g. AWS, Facebook, Google Ads, etc..).
— Extract and load data into staging environments. Validation of events, entity, and data attributes (for all sources) to ensure data-content quality, integrity, and timeliness are consistent with business expectations.
— Work with business and engineering teams to understand business needs. Design, architect, and develop data models for data warehouse and reporting infrastructure, consistent with business needs.
— Develop data scrubbing, normalization, and transformation processes. Analyze data analytic technology needs and assist the team with the data roadmap.
— Manage and align maintenance schedules (up-time) for data analytic systems. Create operational alerts for system health monitoring.
— Work with 3rd party services (e.g. Branch, MixPanel, etc) to enable data continuity, minimize downtime, and support data recovery capabilities. Define data validation rules, monitor, track, and report data quality & integrity.
— Build tracking and alerts for issues with critical data & KPIs such as app & customer usage data, CPI, CPM, spend, and other critical data & metrics.
